About Us

Janice and Nolan Braud - we are both retired (well, semi-retired for Janice). We retired from careers as computer programmers, but before that career, Nolan was a true 'rocket scientist' - he worked for NASA, under Werner Von Braun, during the early space exploration and moon landings. Later, he worked for Entex (now Centerpoint) the Houston Gas Utility as a systems analyst and computer programmer. Janice worked first in Education and Psychology, but later made a career as a business owner and independent consultant in business computer systems.

We are now, in retirement, focused on nature photography. Nolan, who has been legally blind all his life (a legally blind photographer's a bit unusual), is an avid photographer and birder, a story described in this article in the December/January 2007 issue of Birds and Blooms magazine. He got his first camera at age 12, then graduated to 35mm, Medium Format, and finally to professional level digital SLR cameras. Janice got her first serious camera in 1991, and she now also uses Canon's digital SLR cameras.

Both individually and as a team, we have won many first place and Best of Show awards in Texas area contests, plus we have exhibited and sold in several local galleries. We have been published in Birds and Blooms, Texas Parks & Wildlife, Shutterbug, and local Texas publications. We have also done assignment work for local entities such as the city of The Woodlands, Texas.

We are primarily nature photographers, with a strong love for floral scenes, birds, butterflies, and unusual lighting. We also indulge a love of travel and have a "thing" for Lighthouses. Our love of photography provides a great excuse for traveling to beautiful places. It's a great way to grow old together.

You can view a video (produced with ProShow Producer) of images taken from our photographic journeys at our Photodex sharing site. All of the music in the video is royalty free music and the poetry was written by Janice. Hope you enjoy the show.
